Preserving Precious Memories

The main purpose of my site is to "preserve precious memories". I know this sounds like a cliche, but it is because of my own love of music and now as I am not far off  the"senior citizen" stage, my feelings of nostalgia, that I wanted to preserve some of the memories of not only my youth, but of the kids growing up,and various other happy times, mostly connected with music.

The old 78s I bought in the fifties, the old reel to reel tapes of the kids first words, first nursery rhymes, then later, first attempts at singing, friends who used to come and have a sing song most weekends, sadly two of the families went off to find a better life in Australia in the early sixties, but, thank goodness for tape machines, and thank goodness we took the time to tape a lot of it.

These are things worth keeping, and with the digital revolution, comparatively easy with the right equipment and know-how to restore and  preserve for others to cherish.

Most children are tickled pink when presented with a CD of their early childhood efforts, especially if they are 40+ with children of their own. Wicked idea but it works wonders.

So, here I am.

As you will see, most items can be cleaned, de-hissed, de-crackled, de-hummed, de-rumbled and then transferred.

Mono recordings can be enhanced to sound like stereo and it is amazing what a difference it makes to the old 78s.

The thing I like about it most is that I can have up to say 25 old 78s on a CD so I don't have to keep getting up and changing them plus they sound nearly as good as new, and if I want to get really nostalgic, I can still play the originals sounding like they did back then. (I know its not going to be long before I transfer the originals onto CD just as they are without the cleanup, for the "authentic" sound).

I am willing to discuss any project large or small, and can be contacted easily by phone or email if you have any queries or questions.
